Do you know the signs that you are having a stroke?
- Your speech is slurred
- One side of your face is drooped
- One side of your arm you cannot move
- Vomiting
- Sudden severed headache
When you have these signs, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital or Urgent Care to be evaluated. Often times, when the elderly have a sudden severed headache and vomitted, most doctors will think it is a flu.
Take a baby asprin and call 9-1-1. If you have someone home with you, have your family member take you to the hospital.
I have a client who was 76 and did not feel well. He had a headache and was dizzy all day. Later that evening, he vomitted and fell. He was smart to have baby asprin nearby when he fell and called 911 for an ambulance.
When the ambulance arrived, they thought he had the flu. He was rushed to the hospital and when his daughter arrived, they told her the same thing. But, the daughter insisted that they checked to see if he had a stroke. When the hospital did a CT scan, it showed that he did have a stroke. Because of his daughter’s quick thinking, her father is still with her today. Know the signs. It can save a life.
